WHAT WE DREAM OF
Our vision
We dream of a peaceful and flourishing Africa, an Africa reconciled with itself and its past, an Africa looking in the direction of sustainable development. We envision a diverse African society where ethnic, cultural, religious, tribal, and political differences are seen as an asset rather than a weakness.
Realizing this vision is the task of all nations and cultures.
Therefore, RAPRED GIRUBUNTU intends to promote awareness of peace, reconciliation and sustainable development not only in African countries, but also in countries that are not currently affected by war, flight and displacement.
WHAT WE DREAM OF
Our logo
RAPRED-Girubuntu e. V. stands for encounter, trust and change.
The logo of RAPRED-Girubuntu e. V. tells the story of two people who meet despite all their differences. Their shared goal is to promote, live, and connect with one another in peace.
The white and gray ribbon symbolizes hope, unity, and mutual support. The two heads look bravely, resolutely, and together toward the future. In a world full of challenges, they create space for humanity and solidarity.
Their connection inspires others to also build bridges and actively participate in the change.
Because together we are stronger: Two people. One connection. Limitless possibilities.

WHAT WE DREAM OF
Our name
Our association is called RAPRED-Girubuntu.
RAPRED
“ R éseau A fricain pour la P aix, la R éconciliation E t le Développement Durable”
Girubuntu
"Ubuntu" means "humanity" or "generosity." It is like an inner force that encourages people to reconcile, an inner source from which forgiveness can be drawn. It is also an open source from which everyone is welcome to draw. Ubuntu is also the awareness and conviction that we, as human beings, are interconnected.
In this sense, we have the desire to possess the values of “Ubuntu” – “ Gira ubuntu. ” – which is considered one of the highest wishes.
WHAT WE DREAM OF
Dr. Déogratias Mahurukiro
RAPRED is the abbreviation for our goal to create an "African Network for Peace, Reconciliation and Sustainable Development".
Our primary focus is the promotion and, above all, the networking of various civil society initiatives. To this end, we collaborate with several organizations in the East Central African Lake District, which have launched diverse aid projects there, primarily in Kenya, Rwanda, and especially Burundi. In Germany, our association, with the help of partners such as the University of Freiburg, organizes informational events on topics such as "Conflict and Reconciliation Work" or "Refugee and Trauma Coping" to raise awareness of problems and discuss potential solutions.
