HAKUNA MATATA

The “Hakuna Matata” project in Kenya – A sustainable aid project for women and families

The "Hakuna Matata" project was launched to offer women in Kenya a sustainable way to improve their living conditions. Particularly in rural areas where poverty is widespread, the project aims to support low-income women, empowering them to help themselves and actively shape their future.

The project focuses on raising chickens for egg production. These eggs are sold at local markets, providing the women with a regular source of income. The project enables the participants not only to feed their families but also to achieve a basic level of financial independence.

The women who oversee the project play a central role in the social and economic life of their families and communities. As pillars of their households, they not only contribute to the upbringing and education of their children, but also ensure their families' self-sufficiency. Through this combination of self-help and sustainable development, the project has far-reaching positive effects on the entire community.

The "Hakuna Matata" project is designed to complement other initiatives promoting women and families. Its goal is to mobilize women's knowledge and resources to bring about long-term change. Women participating in the project are given the opportunity to further develop their skills and improve the quality of life for their families.

In 2019, the project was supported with a donation of €1,028.37 from the annual peace concert. This support helps to keep the project running and to strengthen its positive effects on families and communities.

The project's motto, "By women for women," emphasizes solidarity and mutual support. It demonstrates the importance of empowering women so they can bring about positive change not only for themselves but also for their families and villages.

The “Hakuna Matata” project is an example of sustainable aid for self-help and offers a valuable opportunity to improve the living conditions of women and their families in Kenya in the long term.
